Children’s Examinations

Vision develops from birth, and is directly related to the development of the child. Sometimes factors interfere, which may result in changes to vision which may affect the child’s development and learning. Tracking, eye teaming and focusing and visual processing are all important factors to consider not just clarity of sight. Regular examinations at Optimeyes Optometry are recommended to ensure that the child’s vision is working well. We used age-appropriate techniques to assess vision in different age groups – babies, toddlers, and young children. We recommend assessments at 6 months of age, 3 years old, prior to starting school, and then every 1-2 years based on need there-after. If you suspect the possibility of any visual difficulties, including an eye-turn, immediate assessment is required, regardless of the recommended ages for examination.
